“The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” is the damnedest film. I can’t recommend it, but I would not for one second discourage you from seeing it.”
- Roger Ebert
In a semi-dystopian near future, Darwin is frittering away his time, working at a toll booth long after the sentence mandated by the terms of his parole.
Music is the only thing that gives his life any semblance of meaning, so when a mysterious turtle-like creature knocks him unconscious and steals his albums he gives chase. This lands him trapped in an ugly brown cell with a diverse assortment of fellow abductees, all the sort of people willing to chase after kleptomaniac turtles.
A sudden jailbreak gives Darwin free run of the strange building, and he encounters a world he never thought possible – including indications that magic may be real.
As he explores, he encounters a variety of aliens, a large pink bunny, a morally flexible politician, and a mysterious goddess who haunts his dreams and wants to discuss his fear of death. Darwin may even be falling in love with one of his ex-cellmates. Or is that just fear talking?
Hopefully the novel rises above its premise.
A list of authors If this novel manages to convey a fraction of the compelling characterizations of Robin Hobb, the imagination of Neil Gaiman, or the clarity of Kurt Vonnegut, I will be happy.
If good artists borrow, then I have attempted to steal everything I can from Steven Brust.

This little book is an interesting exercise in showing the futility of philosophical, political and religious arguments… especially philosophical… since all political and religious arguments are fundamentally based on some philosophy, which as a famous author once said, “Whatever the philosophers claimed, the main use of logic was to justify your emotions”. So for those who enjoy mental masturbation one could be entertained… Frankly it bored me. I discovered years ago that if I want to masturbate it’s more enjoyable in the physical sense. But I read it completely and it only left me with one question… was the author on some mind bending drug or just recording a very strange dream? (Or maybe he is just to brilliant for average intelligence people like me to appreciate.)Product details

Avoiding Space Madness Fantasy Of A Novel Ideal Book 1 eBook Leslie K Ernest Reviews
arrived as described and in good condition, and ready for use. Will make a great gift.
I am sure I've read worse books,. I can't remember when . This is an exercise in stream of consciousness. I think. I am not sure. I would not recommend this book.
Not great.
This book was in serious need of a good editor. The mangled sentences and the number of misspelled words detracted from the storyline. However, that said, the story was interesting.
This is no Arnold J Rimmer military bodice ripper, it's something else and that makes it interesting in itself.
It is a freebee and not well proofed, it rambles and ruminates but I put up with it and eventually got hooked.
The aliens are not humanoid and the spaceships are not shiny white admiralty planet busters. The hero is nothing special and the love interest can look after herself. This book writes it's own sci-fi rules, and I find that refreshing.
Douglas Adams is my default reading when I have nothing else at hand. I don't agree with other reviews comparing the styles. This has it's own brand of .... bentness.
"Fantasy of a novel idea" is a very apt description for this. I enjoyed the author's style and use of language. This would benefit from some proofreading and editing, but its grammatical shortcomings weren't so distracting that I wanted to give it up. I was invested with the characters and curious to know where they would end up. I would read this author again.
This particular story might really only merit 3 stars, but I think the author shows some promise. Fourth star is for style and creativity.
This book had an interesting story line and could have been pretty good. There were a lot of typographical/spelling/grammatical errors and it was distracting. Also the author needed to tell the story in her own voice. It was like she (could have been a he, hard to tell with "Leslie") was trying to sound like Douglas Adams and failing. It just didn't read smoothly. When you get to the end there is a note telling you that if you want the rest of the epilogue you have to download it separately. It also says that in previous editions the extra bit was included in the original download. Huh? I can't comment on the "missing" bit because by that time I just wanted it to be over so I never bothered to download it. Maybe that bit cleared things up, maybe not. I don't know what happened in the end and I just don't really care.
